Blueberry Cream Cheese Cupcakes, and others January 26, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — narfing @ 9:04 pm

So blueberry cream cheese cupcakes sounds good, right? Not if you use the recipe from Deceptively Delicious! It looks so disgusting – like a chunk of moldy bread. The taste is super bland and texture alien.

I also tried making the Chicken Nuggets and Mozz Sticks. The chicken nuggets were good and worth it, but they bake faster and better than frying. The Mozz Sticks recipe makes WAY too much breading and doesn’t taste that great. They were difficult to fry as well because they don’t stick together well. Here is a picture.

Before and After Shots with a sad ending October 4, 2008

Here are some before and after photos of the yard work.  It took FOUR hours to relieve this 2 year eye-sore.

And here is the sad ending as promised.  Due to lack of mowing and upkeep of the common ground hill, our backyard goes like this:

I’m not sure who posted it.  But here is my favorite new quote.  Memorize it.  There will be a pop quiz at the end.  Doh – I’m not a teacher still, am I?

” I have learned that I don’t have to search for who I am, because it’s been inside me all along. I just wasn’t ready to see myself, my real self, because I was afraid it wouldn’t be good enough. And you know what? My real self kicks ass.” – Anon.

My First Homemade Latte July 23, 2008

It didn’t look “pretty” at first.  But one taste of this baby and I was in heaven.  I’m still learning the ins and outs of my new cappuccino maker.  (Thanks Geeky Man)  Hmm… just doesn’t have the same ring to it as Marlboro Man, does it?

was made with:

This.  I think I could charge about $5 for that cup of Latte.  Ooh that was good stuff.  Sorry for the bad photos.  I didn’t have time to doctor them up.  :-(   and if anyone can please tell me how to take them without using that nasty flash, I would be eternally grateful!  I will sing at your funeral, wedding, anything.  Just give me that knowledge.

Tomato – the new Viagra? July 16, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — narfing @ 5:57 pm

Warning, warning.  The tomato you are about to see may not be suitable for 13 years of age and younger.

July 1st Texas A&M published “Watermelon: The New Viagra?” which swept every media outlet available.  Here is the link.

But I believe my homegrown tomato has clearly outdone the watermelon.

And you might say… silly Mary Ellen.  You just Photoshopped this.  NO I didn’t!  I don’t think my mind would ever come up with something this freakish.

I Have the Coolest Husband Ever!! July 16, 2008

Yeah, we’ll just see how long it takes him to find this page  ;-)   Not only did I get the really rad, totally awesome Odyssey (mmmm… leather…. <drool>), but I also managed to wrangle a king size bed that they just delivered this morning.  The dresser is there too, but sadly covered in my stuff already and not webpage worthy.

Not that I’m excited or anything…  However, a brief mention by Hubby of the Odyssey got me thinking again, and researching again, and now buying again.  Here is the outside and inside.  And no, it is not snowing in St. Louis.  I was just too lazy to get out my camera when I could very well find a picture online of the same make and color.  Oh yeah, it is a 2008 Honda Odyssey EX-L.  And yes, I am going to see if the license plates “Homer’s” or “Iliad” are available in Missouri.  I’m a nerd and proud of it!
